Plenty of crap to spread around

I'll admit. I'm all about some Bush bashing right now. The only antidote is listening to the Ed Shultz show. While the host is making loads of sense, the moment of Dem Zen is broken everytime he takes a call. Most of them are idiots. Everything happening in NO is Bush or the Republican's fault. The same old, tired, exhausted, rest-home bound, "for the love of Jesus put a gun to my head and jill me" phrases are thrown out.

If not for the WarInIraqTaxCutsForTheRichWeeksLongVacationNationalGuardTroopDeploymentGlobalWarmingIgnoringACryingMother lies, New Orleans would be just fine and dandy. A bit damp and slightly disheveled, like that one pair of jeans that never quote dries all the way.

The final verdict on WHO IS TO BLAME won't be in for awhile. Meanwhile, I submit into the record Exhibit A that Bush is not at fault. From the AP back on Sunday (emphasis mine):
In the face of a catastrophic Hurricane Katrina, a mandatory evacuation was ordered Sunday for New Orleans by Mayor Ray Nagin. ...

The mayor called the order unprecedented and said anyone who could leave the city should. He exempted hotels from the evacuation order because airlines had already cancelled all flights.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding. ...

(The mayor) told those who had to move to the Superdome to come with enough food for several days and with blankets. He said it will be a very uncomfortable place and encouraged everybody who could to get out.

I think I'll spend some time tomorrow with Google and looking back at who said what when.
